Today, that’s it, the wait is coming to an end. Sony has finally rolled out the new big update for its home console.
There is no doubt that the latter will mark the spirits, if only for the arrival of two major functionalities within the system. The first has been awaited for several months by the players. Months after the first announcement last October, the PS5 finally supports voice chat on Discord.

It is therefore with a slight delay compared to its rival that the PS5 finally allows its users to converse by audio on the messaging system. To do this, you will need to link your Discord account to your PlayStation Network account if it is not yet done. Note that using the mobile or PC version of Discord is required to enjoy voice chats on your console.
Another feature that gamers have been waiting for: firmware version 7.0 finally supports variable refresh rate (VRR) on 1440p monitors. Concretely, this will provide a smoother experience on compatible games, provided of course that the monitor in question is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 port. If you are unsure if your screen has this port, go to Settings > Screen & Video > Video Output > Test 1440p Output.

Sony also wanted to make life easier for players, especially in terms of organizing their toy library. From now on, it is possible to sort your games according to various criteria, for example in alphabetical order, as well as to apply filters to find your way around more easily. Sony does not miss the opportunity to specify that it is possible to filter PSVR 2 games, which has just been released. What a happy coincidence.
The PS5 is also full of social features. In particular, it is now easier to start a screen share with a friend, thanks to a dedicated icon accessible directly from the latter’s profile. Similarly, a simple click on the button Join the game from the window of a Party allows, as its name suggests, group members to quickly join a game in progress at another player.
In addition, game windows now display a tile revealing which friends own the title in question and which of them is online at the given time and playing it. Convenient for quickly finding a playmate for a multiplayer session. Fans of screenshots and video recordings will also be delighted to be able to send them manually to the PS App application in order to quickly share them with their friends.
Finally, Sony also wanted to make life easier for new PS5 owners. Indeed, when a PS4 game is installed on the console, it automatically indicates when a backup is available on the cloud and offers to download it directly to find its progress. The same goes for PS5 versions of games already available on the PS4.
