Volkswagen: appointment as head of sustainable development

(CercleFinance.com) – The Volkswagen group announced on Tuesday that Dirk Voeste, an executive from BASF, will succeed Ralf Pfitzner as head of its sustainable development department.

The German car giant announced on the occasion a restructuring of its sustainable development council, with the aim of deploying a more ‘holistic’ approach encompassing environmental, social and economic issues.

The group, which in particular wants its sustainable development activities to be more digitally oriented, recalls having set “ambitious” ESG objectives as part of its latest roadmap.

Ralf Pfitzner, who had headed the sustainability department since 2017, left the company to pursue other professional opportunities, he said in a statement.

His replacement, Dirk Voeste, was until now vice-president of the BASF chemical group in charge of sustainable development, regulatory aspects and public affairs.
