Volkswagen ID. Buzz: a fitted and sporty van version already on the program

A few months after its reveal, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz offers a sporty transformation but without forgetting the camping aspect!

It has been a few months since the Volkswagen ID. Buzz has been officially revealed in its final version, having been shown as a concept in 2017 at the Detroit show. A direct descendant of the famous Combi, which is nevertheless distinguished by its 100% electric motorization, allowing it to integrate the ID family.

Barely revealed, and while deliveries have not even started yet since they are scheduled for next October, a German preparer has already decided to tackle it. This is Irmscher, usually rather specialized in Opel models.

A more aggressive look

The Germanic firm has this time set its sights on the electric van, and has decided to transform it in order to make it much more aggressive while waiting for the GTX version which should arrive a little later. Revealed by our German colleagues on the site Autobildthis variant reviewed by the German tuner differs from the standard version by numerous modifications.

These relate particularly to the exterior style, since the teams have notably offered him a new much more aggressive shield, inspired by that of the ID.4 and ID.5 in GTX version. Side skirts were also added, while the suspension was lowered by 30 millimetres. The rear has also been reworked, while the electric van gets a new two-tone body color. 19 or 20 inch rims complete the package.

An unusual motorhome version

If the company has not touched the electric motor, 204 horsepower, it has however attacked the interior. And not just a little, since Irmscher offers a kit called “i-Box”, allowing the ID.Buzz to be converted into a converted van. This transformation, which starts at €3,000 in addition to the price of the vehicle, then includes a bed, a sink and a small kitchen with a fridge. Everything can then be installed or dismantled in just 10 minutes.

Note that it takes €3,450 for the aesthetic transformation alone and €2,250 for the rims. Nothing has been said about the maximum autonomy once all the kit is installed, this could have a significant impact on consumption due to the additional weight. As a reminder, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz can travel up to 400 kilometers thanks to its useful 77 kWh battery.
