According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), there are problems with fixing the spare wheel in around 200,000 copies of the model worldwide. VW announced that the recall itself has not yet started. As the next step, the KBA expects the car manufacturer to apply for the data of the Amarok owners concerned so that the campaign can be prepared.

It's about cars built between 2016 and 2020. An accident from Argentina is officially known so far. The KBA is investigating whether the recall action needs to be monitored. Volkswagen now wants to prevent the spare wheel from loosening with an additional bracket on the body. "Heavy dust entry can mean that the winch does not hold," it said to explain.

The VW subsidiary for light commercial vehicles produces the Amarok, the Transporter, the Crafter and the Caddy as well as various special models derived from them. The planned new edition of the Amarok, which is also manufactured in Argentina, is to be developed in cooperation with the US car manufacturer Ford.
