Twenty-eight dead in bombing in occupied eastern Ukraine
On Saturday evening, Ukrainian bombing hit a bakery in the occupied eastern city of Lysychansk. On Sunday, the death toll was at least twenty-eight, including a child. “Search operations continue at the site of the collapsed bakery (…). About 65% of the destroyed structure has been dismantled”, announced the Russian authorities, who said they feared more victims.

Russian-installed “Luhansk People’s Republic” President Leonid Passechnik accused Kiev forces of targeting the busy bakery which he said is known for having fresh bread on weekends . Mr. Passetchnik also announced a day of mourning in this occupied territory on Sunday.
Russia’s foreign ministry said Western weapons were used in the bombing and hoped “a rapid and unconditional condemnation” attack from international organizations.
Lysychansk, in the Luhansk oblast, fell to Russian forces in the summer of 2022. For months, the front in eastern Ukraine has barely moved, but the fighting remains bloody and the bombings continue. are intensified in both camps this winter.
