Voltalia: start of construction of a power plant in Albania

(CercleFinance.com) – Voltalia announces the launch of the construction, in Albania, of the Karavasta site, a 140 megawatt photovoltaic power plant, for which the renewable energy group won a 30-year concession in 2020.

According to the terms of the tender, Karavasta will sell 50% of the electricity through a 15-year sales contract to the Albanian public operator, while the balance of the production will be sold through contracts long term to private operators.

The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the second half of 2023. It will cover the annual electricity consumption of 220,000 inhabitants and avoid the emission of more than 96,500 tonnes of CO2 per year.
