(CercleFinance.com) – Voltalia announces that its Karavasta (Albania) solar power plant, with a capacity of 140 megawatts, is completed and ready to produce.
This solar power plant is the largest in Albania, but also the largest in the Western Balkans. It should produce its first megawatt hours in the coming weeks.
The plant will be able to provide electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of 220,000 inhabitants, or double the energy needs of Albanian cities such as Vlora or Kamza.
In addition to meeting these energy needs, the Karavasta solar power plant will play a crucial role in preserving the environment by avoiding more than 29,165 tonnes of CO2 per year, or around 7% of emissions from the Albanian industrial sector.
