Ten school classes also took part in the replanting and maintenance of existing hedges. The aim of the Association of Heckentag Schweiz is to increase the number of hedges in Switzerland so that bees, other insects, birds and small animals receive an adequate supply of food as well as sufficient living space and protection.
People in Obersaxen, Aeschi near Spiez, Basadingen, Benken, Wölflinswil, Amriswil, Heiden, Rheinfelden, Giswil, Reiden, Val-de-Travers, Neuenegg, Riedbach, Worb, Ipsach, Fontaines, Teuffenthal and Saland took part in this year’s planting campaign.
