The top floor of FC Bayern is changing: after ten years, CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen is leaving the German record champions. His successor has already been determined. Michael Diederich has also been active at the club for some time.
Chief Financial Officer Jan-Christian Dreesen will leave record-breaking champions Bayern Munich after his contract expires at the end of this season. As announced by Munich, the 55-year-old Dreesen will not extend his contract, which expires in the summer. Michael Diederich will be the new Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO from July 1, 2023.
“On behalf of the entire FC Bayern, I would like to thank Jan-Christian Dreesen very much for his outstanding commitment and his great achievements for FC Bayern,” said club president Herbert Hainer. The fact that the club “made profits year after year, even in times of the corona pandemic” was in particular his merit. With regard to his successor, he added: “We are convinced that Michael Diederich will make an important contribution to a successful future for FC Bayern Munich.” As a member of the supervisory board, his “great passion for FC Bayern” is also known.
Diederich is currently Spokesman of the Management Board of Unicredit Bank AG, for which he has held various management positions since 1996. In addition, the 57-year-old has been a member of the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG since 2018. According to Hainer, he is “an outstanding financial expert with a valuable network and excellent leadership qualities”. In order to ensure a “smooth transition”, Diederich will be appointed to the board as a regular member on April 1, 2023, the club announced. He and Dreesen worked side by side for three months.
Dreesen has been a member of the board of record champions since February 2013. “After long and careful consideration, I have now decided to redefine my personal goals after this extraordinary decade,” he said. “I had a fantastic ten years at Bayern.”
