A 59-year-old hiker was discovered dead on Saturday by the emergency services after a fatal fall in the Honeck sector, in the Vosges mountains, after searches began on Friday.
“The body was found around noon at the foot of the Spitzkoepfe ridge“, indicated the mountain gendarmerie platoon of Horod (Haut-Rhin), specifying that the man, originally from the Vosges, had probably done “a technical errorin this steep sector, where his sticks were found higher up.
The relatives of this mountain regular had given the alert on Friday around 7:00 p.m. not seeing him return at the scheduled time.
The weather conditions were good in this area on the border between the departments of Vosges and Haut-Rhin.

The search had lasted part of the night and resumed on Saturday morning, mobilizing a dozen soldiers, firefighters specializing in dangerous environments as well as dog teams.
