The wait is over: PS5 manufacturer Sony has announced on its Playstation Blog that it will be equipping the PlayStation 5 with the long-delayed VRR upgrade this week. This should come to the console as part of a firmware update. According to reports on Twitter, the update is already available for some of you.
While gamers on the competitor console Xbox Series X have long been benefiting from the smooth images and smooth gameplay thanks to VRR, even with high computing power, Sony is finally delivering.

VRR for the PS5: what does the upgrade bring?
Unpleasant juddering effects can occur when games are displayed on the screen, particularly in the case of processor-intensive games, which seriously detract from the gaming experience. With the variable refresh rate (VRR), however, effects such as so-called tearing can be avoided.
The prerequisite for this is an HDMI 2.1-compatible screen or TV, on which the following games will be supported by the VRR upgrade in the current week thanks to game patches delivered in good time.

How to get PS5 VRR upgrade
Sony explains on its Playstation blog that VRR compatibility will automatically come to your PS5 with the upcoming firmware update this week. You can also turn the feature on and off in the “Screen and Video” menu option.
If the update is not yet offered to you, a trick can sometimes help. As the user ARJ writes on Twitter, he was offered the update after restarting his console.
