VW technology launches optimized voice control on its Golf

Faster, more powerful, more stable: Volkswagen is optimizing “infotainment” in the current Golf. Voice command now responds up to four times faster.

This major upgrade, which is expected to roll into series production in the coming weeks, brings new dynamics to the Golf’s infotainment. Voice control and navigation are now available much faster. This also applies to the use of the navigation map and menus.

The biggest breakthrough comes from voice control: “Hello Volkswagen” is the phrase used to launch the function known as natural voice control. The system can also understand everyday phrases such as “I’m cold” or “Where can I find a Japanese restaurant in Berlin?” “.

Thanks to digital microphones, it now knows which driver or passenger is talking, which means that it can, for example, activate the air conditioning specifically for the person requesting it.

The optimized voice control essentially allows the customer to control the entertainment, navigation, phone and heating / air conditioning. The comprehension rate has been improved and now reaches almost 95%.

Voice command responses and suggestions come from two sources: the cloud and information stored offline in the vehicle.
