First bands announced for 2023

The organizers are stoking anticipation for the upcoming Wacken Open Air and have announced the first bands for the new edition of the festival.

83,400 fans just celebrated at the world’s largest metal festival in Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein. Acts like Judas Priest, Slipknot and Powerwolf heated up the visitors, a total of over 200 bands played on nine stages. The organizers are already looking forward to the next edition in 2023, “which will offer four days of live concerts for the first time,” according to a statement on Sunday (August 7). In addition, the first bands have been confirmed that will take the stage next year.

These bands will play at Wacken Open Air in 2023

British metal legends Iron Maiden have been announced as headlining Wacken Open Air 2023, which will take place from August 2nd to 5th. They lead the Wacken line-up for the fourth time. Also confirmed are Megadeth, the Dropkick Murphys, Wardruna, Beartooth, Ensiferum, Pentagram, Jinjer, Nervosa, Deicide, Burning Witches and Two Steps From Hell.

The 32nd edition will be themed Vikings. Their culture “will be reflected in the overall appearance as well as in artistic performances, program content and other offers on the site,” says the statement.
