Wacken Open Air has completed its line-up. Another 22 bands have been announced. There is a big surprise included.

Wacken Open Air has announced 22 new bands! The popular metal festival will take place this year from August 4th to 6th in the municipality of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein. Metal legends such as Slipknot, Judas Priest and Limp Bizkit were announced as performers in advance. Now the line-up has been completed – with a surprise that no one would have expected.

Powerwolf, Slime and Vended are there

The German metal band Powerwolf is doing the honors this year and is one of the festival’s headliners. The gothic novel group ASP and Life of Agony are also there. They are joined by the German punks of Slime and Ann Wilson, who became known as the singer of Heart. Also performing is Vended, a band made up of the sons of Slipknot’s founding members.

It gets a little crazier with medieval metal by Corvus Corax Era Metallum. The Finnish ESC participants Blind Channel will also be on the stage. Manntra want to inspire with Croatian folk metal, while Gwendydd rockers from Bulgaria perform. The German band Torfrock is also part of the line-up.

The Höhner come to the Wacken Open Air

But the biggest surprise is probably the Höhner – the Cologne cult band is appearing at Wacken for the first time. Wacken co-founder Holger Hübner explained in a press release how the unusual combination came about: “Höhner singer Henning Krautmacher and I recently sat […] together at the counter. We talked about the fact that he’s only part of the band for this year and joked that a small gig in Wacken would go well with such a farewell. A few shots later we thought to ourselves: we’re really going to do this!”
