Waistband: This is how we style the Instagram trend in everyday life

From the times of oversize cuts – the fashionistas of this world show what they have and emphasize their waist with artistically knotted ribbons. We'll show you how to style the trend of the hour for everyday use.

After statement sleeves, retro trousers and XXL bags, another trend appears on the scene that requires a bit of fashion courage. Fashionistas are currently relying on skirts or tops with waist bands, which put our core in the limelight. Sounds daring? But it is not. A look at Instagram reveals that the unusual trend is more wearable than first thought.

The look explains:

Straight-cut midi skirts, as we know them from the 90s, have been in trend for quite a while. Small ribbons that are cleverly draped at the waist are new. At first glance, this is reminiscent of cut-out elements on dresses, but looks much more casual and summery.

How to wear waistbands

What sounds like a lot of skin is in reality a true styling all-rounder and can be styled just as well for the job as for an evening in the club – bloggers and co. Show us how.

To work

The favorite combination of fashion influencers: crop top + statement sleeves + midi skirt – the latter is best made of satin. For example, to Scandi girl Sophie Roe and the British-French fashion journalist Camille Charriere.

We are also convinced by the look, as the strict but girlish tops make the outfit a little less sexy and therefore more suitable for everyday use.

But admittedly, the look would still be a bit too revealing for us in the office. A skin-colored body under the blouse can help. So we don't get dubious but admiring looks.

Casual in your free time

Fashion blogger Leonie Hanne proves that waist bands also work with jeans. Like her predecessors, the woman from Hamburg opted for a crop top, but styled denim and chunky sneakers. This makes the look look a lot more relaxed and less formal.

We like Camille Charrieres second interpretation of the summer trend at least as much: this time, she's styling a simple black top with a tight skirt and throws a white men's shirt over it. With the white flip flops, the cool outfit can no longer be surpassed.

In the evening

In the monochrome look with a matching top, the trend style gets an elegant touch. The rule here is: less is more! Reach for clean, reduced accessories and forego a lot of jewelry. Delicate hoop earrings or a filigree chain are sufficient.

Who is the trend?

Of course, waistbands are predestined to highlight a particularly well-trained core. But curvy women can also dare to approach the trend. The best thing to do here is to wear high-cut trousers and skirts that cover the belly button. The ribbons are then draped a little higher. So only a small strip of skin flashes out. In general, however, it can be said: What you like and what you feel comfortable in is allowed!
