Walking Dead: after the departure of Carol, a new blow for the series on Daryl

The spin-off of “Walking Dead” on Daryl, in which Melissa McBride (Carol’s interpreter) will not appear in the end, has just lost its showrunner!

More changes for the series centered on Daryl! The Walking Dead spin-off has just lost its showrunner Angela Kang, currently working on the parent series, which wrapped filming a few weeks ago. Screenwriter David Zabel (Emergency room) was chosen as the new showrunner, to take charge of the program’s development and oversee the writing of the episodes.

This departure follows that announced a few days earlier of actress Melissa McBride, the interpreter of Carol, supposed to hold the main role of the series alongside Norman Reedus; the relocation of filming to Europe has indeed forced the American actress to withdraw from the project for personal reasons. Deemed indirectly responsible for the situation by some “fans”, Reedus has received numerous messages of hate and insults on social networks.

However, these changes will have no impact on the filming of the series. Shooting will begin in the coming weeks (probably early summer) for broadcast in 2023. Two other spin-offs have also been ordered: Isle of the Dead (with Maggie and Negan as main characters) and Tales of the Walking Dead, an anthology featuring characters from the past as well as newcomers to the franchise.
