Wall Street: No clear trend at the end of the morning


(CercleFinance.com) – Wall Street is moving without any real trend on Wednesday, with investors not finding new catalysts to further push up indices that have recently returned to levels close to their historic highs.

At the end of the morning, the Dow Jones advanced 0.2% to 38,954.2 points, but the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.2% to 16,288.5 points.

US stock markets had already finished with insignificant scores yesterday, unable to amplify their gains despite the continued decline in bond yields.

This morning, market participants seem to be struggling to find a clear direction after the contrasting quarterly accounts of several big names in technology.

Uber Technologies fell by more than 8% after publishing a net loss, group share, which widened to $654 million for the first three months of the year.

The social media Reddit is doing better and gaining 2% after delivering convincing performances on the occasion of its first publication of results since its IPO.

None of the indicators on the program in the morning provided a sketch of the state of the economic situation and therefore provided information on the Fed’s future intentions.

Wholesaler inventories continued to decline in March and fell by 0.4%, according to figures released this morning by the Department of Commerce.

Oil prices are rising again following the announcement of a marginal decline in crude oil stocks last week, with American light crude (WTI) rising 0.9% to $79.1.
