The New York Stock Exchange opened higher on Thursday, ignoring a price index which shows a rebound in inflation, causing a rise in bond rates.
In early trading, the Dow Jones gained 0.24%, the Nasdaq index gained 0.40% and the broader S&P 500 index appreciated by 0.25%.
