Sea boating enthusiasts will soon be able to discover a new facet of sea boating aboard an outboard-type electric boat. See you in a few months in Cannes, in a brand new center dedicated to electric navigation.

The center which will open in September is the result of a collaboration between Candela and Sud Plaisance. To try the electric outboard, go to the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 6 to 11, 2022!

An electric boat signed Candela

The electric boat honored during the festival is the Candela C-8, a model ” noiseless, emission-free, vibration-free according to the brand. Its shape is surprising to say the least: it is a hydrofoil boat, or hovercraft, which rises on lifting wings after gaining speed. This allows it to absorb shocks and not leave traces behind.

The Candela C-8 is not the first airboat, far from it. They have been around since the 19thand century. The hydrofoil technology makes it possible to minimise, through the suspension, the friction with the water and the eddy created by the drag of the boat. In the case of the Candela C-8, the hydrofoil coupled with the electric motor has made it possible to create a silent boat without vibrations or shocks, which saves the energy spent in travel. According to Candela, you’ll feel like you’re driving a magic carpet!

Between speed and comfort, a jewel on the water

The Candela C-8 has a range of over 50 nautical miles, or 92 kilometers at an average speed of 24 knots. If the conditions do not allow the use of the hydrofoil wings, the boat navigates on its hull, however at reduced speed. In terms of carbon emissions, the C-8 shows a 99% reduction compared to a similar model with a combustion engine. This allows a saving on the cost of gasoline, but also a preservation of the environment and the seabed.

The boat can accommodate eight passengers and can accommodate two adults and two children for the night. The cabin is spacious and equipped with speakers. Count 290,000 euros to acquire the Candela C68, a luxury product, like most of the outboards that you can admire at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
