Wanted, rescued – missing woman lay on a forest path for hours

The search for a woman in the Jennersdorf district was dramatic. After the pensioner did not return from a walk, emergency services combed the area around her place of residence. After hours, helpers found the woman who was missing. It was lying on the cold ground beside a path in the forest. Hospital!

On Wednesday at 2 p.m. the pensioner from Rohrbrunn took a leisurely walk. When she didn’t come home, the family worried. Relatives began to look for her – in vain. Eventually the police were alerted. A large search operation started immediately with the fire brigade, supported by a service dog and the use of drones. But there was still no trace of the woman leaving. It was already dark.

Found by tip
Only a local resident provided the decisive clue. The witness had seen the pensioner when she set out on her walk towards the forest in the early afternoon. In fact, the missing woman was found. She was lying on a forest path, probably for hours.

Paramedics helped
“The woman was slightly hypothermic and complained of back pain,” reported the paramedics. The patient was brought from the forest to safety on a stretcher. Thomas Friedl from the Rohrbrunn fire brigade: “Fortunately, an attentive resident gave the hint, which then led the emergency services and the Red Cross to the missing person.”
