Wanted to recover ski pole – holiday child fell over 100 meters in Warth

A tragic skiing accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Warth am Arlberg: a 13-year-old girl lost her stick while riding the lift. When the young Belgian wanted to rescue it, she fell.

The ski pole had remained above ski slope number 284 in extremely steep terrain. The 13-year-old slipped while trying to climb the slope with her ski boots. She first slid across the partly frozen ski slope before falling more than 100 meters down a steep slope riddled with rocks. Only when it became flatter again did the Belgian stay down. The young holidaymaker sustained unspecified injuries to her cervical vertebrae. She was flown to the Feldkirch State Hospital by the crew of the “Robin 1” rescue helicopter.
