The primetime carnival show on Monday in the first is canceled – just like WDR and ZDF before, the broadcaster canceled it because of the war.

The carnival show on Monday at 8:15 p.m. in the first will be cancelled. The broadcaster confirmed this when asked by the news agency spot on news. Instead, “current information program” is planned, it is said. The reason for the cancellation of the carnival show is the Ukraine war. It was planned that on February 28th the program “Carnival in Cologne 2022” with Guido Cantz (50) would run at prime time on the first. Between “Tagesschau” and “Tagesthemen” there is currently an edition of Frank Plasberg’s (64) “Hart aber fair” in the station’s program for Monday evening.

On Monday afternoon, “Red Roses” will run instead of the Rose Monday procession from Cologne. The festival committee of the Cologne carnival had previously canceled the planned Shrove Monday festival because of the war in Ukraine. Instead, there should be a peace demonstration with an exhibition of satirical vehicles in the city center.

ZDF deletes “Mainz remains Mainz”

It was already announced on Thursday that carnival programs on WDR television would be canceled in the coming days. The session classic “Mainz stays Mainz, as it sings and laughs” should be broadcast on ZDF this Friday, February 25, from 8:15 p.m. The three-hour program was also canceled, but should be available in the ZDF media library, as the “Allgemeine Zeitung” reported.
