Grain freighters are to continue sailing across the Black Sea

Despite Russia’s suspension of the agreement on grain exports from Ukraine, ships are expected to continue sailing through the Black Sea corridor on Monday. The delegations of the United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine have agreed on a corresponding plan, according to a statement from the coordination center in Istanbul on Monday night.

On Monday, twelve ships are to set off through the defined humanitarian corridor in the direction of Istanbul, four in the opposite direction. The Russian delegation had been informed about this. Six loaded ships set off towards the corridor on Sunday. In the corridor itself, however, there were no ship movements on Sunday.

Currently, 21 freighters involved in the initiative and loaded with about 700,000 tons of grain are in or near the three Ukrainian ports, it said. Among them is a ship loaded with 30,000 tons of wheat for emergency aid in the Horn of Africa as part of the World Food Program.

    Legend:

Russia indefinitely suspended its approval of the grain deal on Saturday. The agreement was agreed in July with mediation from Turkey and the UN. It had ended the month-long blockade of Ukrainian grain exports as a result of the Russian war of aggression.

How does SRF check the sources in war coverage?

open box
close the box

The information on the Ukraine war is numerous and sometimes contradictory. The most reliable sources are local journalists and reporters from other media who can be trusted. Other important sources are eyewitnesses – i.e. local people who can convey impressions.

Information from warring parties is particularly questionable. Because all warring parties are making propaganda – in this war of aggression, above all the official Russian sources. We classify the statements of the warring parties accordingly. Basically, the following applies to SRF: the more difficult and unreliable the source situation, the more important transparency is. Controversial facts and information that cannot be independently verified are identified as such.
