My cousin Pierre Zakrzewski, cameraman reporter, was killed yesterday in Ukraine. It is not written anywhere but Pierre was Franco-Irish, so he was also a French journalist. He died to inform us as he had done for several decades all over the world (Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, …) This conflict had a particular flavor, he told us a few days ago by message: ‘Putin does not care about human rights'”he wrote.

Valentin Chevalier adds that his cousin knew very well the risks he was exposing himself to, but that he had no intention of leaving Ukraine. “He was an incredible, ethical and humane man, ‘an absolute legend’ according to his colleagues. When asked a few days ago if he was planning to return soon: ‘Not at the moment. Honestly I don’t want to leave this country. I have a responsibility to stay'”he added.

Pierre Zakrzewski named “unsung hero”

Pierre Zakrzewski was shot dead Monday in Horenka, near the capital kyiv. As Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott reported in a statement, the reporter’s vehicle was fired upon. He was 55 years old. Ukrainian journalist and consultant Oleksandra Kuvshynova, 24, also died in the attack, while Benjamin Hall, the Fox News reporter they were accompanying, was seriously injured.
