The SRF journalistic guidelines state the following on the subject of war reporting: “It is not our job to provide an embellished picture of reality. Events that are shocking should also be shocking. A ruthless portrayal is often necessary in order to do justice to a situation.»
In the case of the war in Ukraine, the belligerent party, Russia, claims that there is no war and that civilians are being spared. Here we are also obliged to contradict this lie with clear statements and unambiguous images.
