Swiss Solidarity calls for donations for Ukraine
Open box Close box
In view of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Swiss Solidarity is collecting donations for the affected Ukrainian population. Millions of people – especially children, women and the elderly – have already fled and are seeking refuge in neighboring countries or in areas in the interior of the country that have been spared from fighting. Swiss Solidarity supports refugees through its partner organizations within Ukraine, the neighboring countries of Poland, Romania, Moldova and Hungary, as well as in Switzerland.
Donations can be made at www.glueckskette.ch or to the postal account 10-15000-6, with the note “Crisis in Ukraine”.
How does SRF check sources in war reporting?
Open box Close box
There is a lot of information about the war in Ukraine, and it is sometimes contradictory. The most reliable sources are local journalists and reporters from other media who can be trusted. Other important sources are eyewitnesses – people on the ground who can convey impressions.
Information from warring parties is particularly scrutinized. All warring parties are making propaganda – in this war of aggression, especially the Russian official sources. We classify the warring parties’ statements accordingly. The basic rule at SRF is: the more difficult and unreliable the sources, the more important transparency is. Disputed facts and information that cannot be independently verified are identified as such.
