War in Ukraine: Russian soldiers betrayed their position by flirting on Tinder

While the Kremlin was preparing Wednesday, February 23, to launch an offensive on Kharkiv, Russian soldiers embarked on a seduction operation on the famous dating application.

Alexander, Michail, Andrei, Gregory … The profile of a 33-year-old Ukrainian woman repeatedly activated as a result of “matches” with profiles of Russian soldiers. One displayed his muscles lying on a bed, weapon in hand. While others, in military outfits, sported their striped uniforms.

According to information from The Sun, the soldiers revealed their military positions as the armed forces prepared for an imminent bombardment. They were in fact nearly 30 kilometers from the 30-year-old, herself in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. In reality, the young woman was in Kiev.

“I live in Kyiv but changed my location settings to Kharkiv after a friend told me there were Russian troops all over Tinder,” she told the British media. In order to extract some information, the 33-year-old Ukrainian even started an exchange with one of these men.

But in a context where war is also synonymous with media crusade, manipulation by the Russian army cannot be ruled out. However, for the resident of Kiev, the presence of the Russian army on the dating application was not premeditated. “These guys are like everyone else on the dating app, they want love or companionship,” she commented.
