In the south of Ukraine, in the Zaporizhia region, a series of Russian strikes left three people dead this Sunday, April 7. This region, highly coveted due to the presence of a nuclear power plant, has been partly in the hands of Moscow since the start of the invasion in February 2022.
Three people were killed following Russian bombings in the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia, in the south of the country, already the victim of deadly strikes the day before, local authorities announced on Monday. Russia said on Sunday that a Ukrainian drone had attacked the territory of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, which it has occupied for two years, and that the device had exploded above one of the reactors.
“Three people were killed and three others injured,” the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration, Ivan Federov, said on social media on Monday. On Sunday, three people had already been killed in Russian strikes in the region, according to Ukrainian authorities.
According to Federov, Russian forces struck eight populated areas in the region “357 times” in the past 24 hours. Russia has partly occupied the Zaporizhia region since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the largest in the country, has been the subject of numerous mutual accusations for two years between the Russian and Ukrainian armies .
