Russian military foils Ukrainian missile attack over Crimean Bridge
A Ukrainian missile attack was foiled on Saturday over the Crimean Bridge, an important civil and military infrastructure that connects Russia to this annexed peninsula, local authorities and the Russian army announced. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the bridge was attacked using an S-200 anti-aircraft missile converted for ground strikes.
“The Ukrainian missile was detected in time and intercepted in the air by Russian air defense systems. There were no injuries or damage,” he added on Telegram. Crimean leader Sergei Aksionov told him of two Ukrainian missiles, not one, shot down near the Kerch Strait. “The Crimean Bridge was not damaged,” he said on Telegram.

The last attack, in July, caused extensive damage to the road section of the structure, which is also used to transport military equipment to the Russian army fighting in Ukraine. The concrete bridge, 18 kilometers long and inaugurated in 2018 by Vladimir Putin, consists of two parallel structures, one reserved for road traffic and the other for rail traffic.
The Russian president had ordered to reinforce the security of the Crimean bridge after the last attack. The territory of Crimea itself is also regularly targeted by Ukrainian strikes. Russia has announced that it has shot down 20 drones overnight that were targeting targets on the peninsula.

Three Iranian-made Shahed drones were destroyed over the Zaporizhia region and a missile attack targeted Kryvyi Rig, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, without causing any casualties, according to Governor Serguii Lyssak.
