Warframe Creators Announce Soulframe

Unveiled during TennoCon 2022 with this trailer, soul frame is the next game from Steve Sinclair, creative director of Warframe, who entrusted the direction of the latter to Rebecca Ford in order to be able to concentrate on this brand new massively multiplayer and free-to-play action-RPG. Still at the beginning of its development, soul frame draws on the theme of the collision between nature and humanity as well as ideas of restoration and exploration. We should hear a lot about the game during its development since Digital Extremes talks about a transparent, collaborative and community-driven process.

In a prepared interview with the Washington Post, Steve Sinclair explains that soul frame and Warframe will share a passion for procedurally generated environments and co-op PvE action, but that’s where the similarities end. More fantasy oriented than science fiction, soul frame will additionally offer very different, slower, more methodical and melee-based combat, when Warframe plays more like a TPS.

soul frame will of course be a reflection of everything Digital Extremes has learned since the release of Warframe in 2013, evolving from a modest cooperative shooter to an open world with increasingly mature stories, systems and activities. If Digital Extremes has evolved Warframe beyond all initial expectations, the studio is however counting on soul frame to offer a brand new start on bases that are both familiar and different.

The world that we see in the video will correspond to the main hub, an open world from which we will access a network of caves, crevices and other basements generated in a procedural way by a world a little angry with what he was made to endure. Note that despite the name of the game and the sibylline narration of the trailer, the will of Digital Extremes is not to imitate the work of FromSoftware. It must be said that the game is still very little advanced anyway, so that only a small team (mainly artists) was dedicated to it until last February.

By solving a little language puzzle on the game’s official website, you can subscribe to news and be ready to reserve your future in-game name.
