Saber Interactive And Focus Entertainment launched a few days ago Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and it’s a resounding success. The single-player and cooperative action shooter has sold very well, attracting many players simultaneously on SteamThe title will be entitled to additional content in the coming months thanks to a Season Pass well filled, but the developers have other ideas in mind.
Tim Willits, CCO of Saber Interactivespoke with IGN about this success, revealing that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 cost half as much as DOOM Eternalthe last game he oversaw as director ofid Software before his departure. He had revealed a few days earlier that the title of Saber sold faster than any game he had ever overseen at id (THE Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein And Ragejust that). Tim Willits does not give new precise figures, but the commercial success is real.
From now on, Saber Interactive can allow itself to “dream bigger”, the developer will first take care of the content promised in the Season Passwith missions PvEfashions PvPadditional maps, enemies and weapons, but the studio already has other plans for the future. Tim Willits claims to have already ideas for scripted DLC or for a potential Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3. He states:
Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko has come up with a few story ideas that could be either DLC or a sequel. We are literally catching our breath. The game was released two weeks ago. We just have to wait for things to calm down. But I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. This is too great a success! I know it is an obvious thing to say, but I hope that we will be working on Space Marine content for a long time.
THE CCO remember that Saber Interactive will have to work with the publisher again Focus Entertainment And Games Workshopowner of the Warhammer franchise, to develop a new opus, but 40K has so many factions and other chapters to explore. Fans will also be entitled to new classes in Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 to vary the gameplay. Tim Willits explains the previous game of the genre Saber, World War Zattracted new players with each release of DLC or free content, ultimately reaching 25 million players. The idea is therefore toattracting attention in the long term, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 should follow the same path.
Saber Interactive is also busy on other games, including A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead that he edits, but also John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando And Jurassic Park Survival that he develops himself. And Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic Remake is normally still in the pipeline, according to a statement of CEO by Matthew Karch last April.
