Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is postponed to 2024

Publisher Focus Entertainment announced this in an official press release dated November 21: “Focus Entertainment will reveal the official launch date of the highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – the iconic Games Workshop license – at the beginning of December. The game will be released in the second half of 2024, to give the necessary time to refine it and ensure the best possible experience. Focus Entertainment intends to release a game of the highest quality that exceeds the expectations of countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has at this stage accumulated more than a million wish lists.

According to the analyst from the firm specializing in investment and financial expertise Portzamparc, whose opinion was reported by our colleagues from the newspaper Les Echos Investir, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 already has nearly a million wishes which, transformed into sales, could represent some 150,000 copies on the first day, according to experts’ calculations.” According to the same analysis firm, Space Marine 2 could generate up to 34 million euros in turnover. Hence the postponement of the game to the second half of 2024, given the economic weight that the title represents in the Focus catalog and the responsibility on the shoulders of Saber Interactive. Remember that Saber’s main feats of arms are Snowrunner And World War Z: Aftermath, which cannot be defined as blockbusters. Following Focus’ press release, the company’s share value fell by 5.6%, bringing it down to €23.6 at the time of writing.

As announced by the publisher, you will have to wait until the beginning of December to have the official release date of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The publication of Focus’ half-year results should take place on December 14, so it is almost certain that the date set for W40K SM2 will be revealed by then. Maybe an announcement at the Game Awards on December 8?
