Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, a release date, Hantenuits and Conquest mode

Frontier Developments take advantage of the gamescom 2023 this week to provide information about Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruinits real-time strategy game in the universe of Games Workshop. The studio notably presented the faction of hantenuitsas well as the game mode Conquest.

You can discover the hantenuits in the trailer above, and here’s what the developers add:

Developed on both PC and consoles, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is the first RTS to bring the Mortal Realms of Games Workshop’s fantasy universe to life. The single-player campaign is set in Ghur, the savage realm of beasts, featuring a detachment of Storm Eternals attempting to seize a powerful artifact and save their fortress from the Kruleboyz Orruks invading the swamps.

At the start of this tale, the Storm Eternals venture into Ghur and, after a perilous journey, reach the location of this artifact. But this one is held back by the ethereal chains of the Hauntenuits, the servants of Nagash, who unleash a storm of Wraiths to defend him. The Hantenuits bring hordes of specters and monsters to the battlefield of Realms of Ruin, gaining the upper hand by sheer force of numbers. In addition to appearing as antagonists in the campaign, the Nighthaunters are playable in Conquest mode and in multiplayerfeaturing a wide array of units inspired by their tabletop counterparts.

In Conquest modeplayers will have to complete a variety of randomly generated challenges to reach the highest score, by competing against individual 1v1 skirmishes on a larger map, before engaging in a final battle to complete each round. But not everything is as simple as it seems: new rules transform the conditions of the conflict, such as drastically reducing squad vision, increasing unit movement speed, or imposing strict time limits to increase the level of difficulty. The players will have to make tough choices between increasing their bonus modifier Or gain extra lives as they battle on the field to get the highest score possible. Each game in Conquest mode is based on a reference number that can be shared with other players.
