Warner wants his own MCU, big changes coming?

It was to be suspected, the success of the MCU attracts many covetousness and DC obviously wishes to draw inspiration from it to make its own cinematographic universe.

As reported by HollywoodReporter, during the second quarter earnings conference call, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav spoke about the future of DC Comics movies in theaters. It must be said that the fate of DC Films has aroused a lot of interest in recent days, especially with the cancellation of the Batgirl series. A series that still had a cost of 90 million dollars.

A 10-year plan for DC

Zaslav is pretty clear on DC and genuinely wants to give us a DCU worthy of the movie name. Better still, he wants to draw inspiration directly from Disney’s work with Marvel. And for that he did not hesitate to call on the director of Disney’s retired cinema, Alan Horn, as an adviser (one of the dads of the MCU).

Take a look at his various statements:

Our ambition is to produce great, high-quality films, and when we look at the opportunities we have, DC is high on the list for us.

You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, these are brands that are known all over the world. And the possibility of bringing them to the world through a great story is a great opportunity for us. We did a reset. We restructured the company. We’re going to focus on a team with a 10-year plan that will focus solely on the DC Universe.

The objective is to develop the DC brand. To grow DC characters. But also, our job is to protect the brand and that’s what we’re going to do..

It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger put in place, very effectively, with Kevin Feige at Disney.

Alan Horn and the DC / Warner duo will therefore very soon get down to having a DCU proposed, it remains to be seen what will happen to all the mythology which was put in place by Snyder and which the fans hold dear. Not to mention the fact that an actor like Henry Cavill who plays Superman is well liked by everyone. Will we be entitled to a soft reboot? Or on the contrary a complete reboot with new actors? What place for the Batman with Pattinson? In short, many questions are still unresolved.
