Warzone: Players want change for Caldera

If Caldera allowed players to Warzone to change the air, for the most part, the card is clearly not up to par. Many are hoping to see multiple map changes coming in the next season.

Since Warzone Pacific kicked off last December, Caldera has taken the place of Verdansk, becoming the main battle royale map. The least we can say is that the reactions of the players have been more than mixed in the face of this major change.

While some were pleased with this novelty, which upsets the habits they had adopted so far, many have deplored the absence of a real alternative to Caldera. Rebirth Island is of course an option, especially since the map got a facelift when Season 2 launched, but it is much smaller than Caldera.

From the start, Caldera was not unanimous among Warzone players.

Throughout the season, many voices have been raised to complain about Caldera, castigating among other things its design or its too many no man’s lands. Now a disgruntled player has laid out everything he thinks is wrong with Caldera in a scathing post on Reddit, where he called Caldera a map “cheap”.

Caldera still not convincing Warzone players

The problems are so legion on Caldera that for this player, the map was simply poorly thought out, even poorly developed.

“I hate how instead of just putting 5 houses side by side, we have 5 houses 100m apart”did he declare. “I don’t want to spend 5 minutes running from house to house just to find the worst loot ever… That’s cheap. It is even indicated that there is a house where there is none. Me and my friend were running around looking for loot, we see a house on the map, we run, in the end it was a rock.”

Unsurprisingly, he also pointed out the long list of bugs and glitches that exist on Caldera and which plague players’ daily lives.

“The overall vibe of the map also seems quite confusing”he added. Aesthetically, we have jungles, Nazi bases, Japanese bases, then a picturesque capital, and small hamlets everywhere. It feels like they didn’t really know what they wanted to do with this card…it feels like a mess and confusion.”

Several Warzone players echoed his sentiment in the comments, suggesting large-scale changes to fix things. Others have talked about setting up a rotation system that would allow Verdansk to be reintroduced.

Unfortunately, his arrival does not seem to be for now. In the meantime, there is only to hope that the developers will listen to the pleas of the players.
