Warzone’s STG44 finally gets a well-deserved nerf

After community uproar over the STG44 in Warzone Pacific Season 3 Reloaded, the developers finally changed the Assault Rifle in the June 2 update.

The STG44 dominated the meta in Warzone Pacific Season 3 Reloaded, especially since Vanguard weapons were heavily buffed in the update, leaving other weapons in the dust.

Many players have recently been frustrated with this limited meta, even saying it’s unbearable. The community has requested that the STG44 be modified, claiming the weapon is overpowered. Luckily, the June 2 patch for Warzone did just that.

Warzone’s STG44, a long overdue nerf

Activision

The STG 44 has dominated for quite a while.

The developers decided to nerf the STG44 after it absolutely dominated the meta in Warzone Pacific Season 3.

The STG44 was destructive at medium and long ranges despite the increase in hitpoints in Warzone, so the developers decided to reduce the maximum damage range of the weapon.

Alpha Assault Rifle (VG)

Maximum damage range reduced to 27.9 meters, down from 30.1 meters.

While this nerf seems pretty minor, it could make a big difference to his overall ranged TTK, which is where the weapon excels. The weapon was particularly strong thanks to its easy-to-control recoil, meaning its fast TTK is easier to hit, as players miss fewer shots.

That said, the recoil may also need to be tweaked if the weapon continues to dominate after this patch. We will be closely monitoring the weapon and its performance after this nerf, as well as the reaction of the community.
