It is now clear: Gabby Petito († 22) was strangled. That’s the autopsy result released this week. But there are still many questions unanswered in the case of the dead Youtuber. There is still no trace of her boyfriend Brian Laundrie (23).
The case moves people all over the world. You want to find out what really happened, determine on your own – and pay attention to every little detail.
Internet noses have therefore also seen the published recordings of a police check in mid-August. At that time a dispute between Petito and Laundrie had escalated. So bad that a witness alerted the police. The caller, who had called the police, had seen a man arguing with a woman and beating her.
Hobby investigators paid close attention to the Youtuber’s hand
The completely distraught and crying Petito then told the police in the video that she had an obsessive-compulsive disorder and that an argument had broken out. She also slapped her boyfriend in the face. The couple then agreed to spend the next night separately.
The hobby investigators took a close look at the police’s recording and are convinced: Petito silently called for help. It should be seen how the 22-year-old makes the symbol for domestic violence with her hand.
At first glance, this is an inconspicuous gesture. But only if you don’t know what it means. One hand is raised, the fingers stretched and the thumb bent in such a way that it touches the palm of the hand. Then the fingers slowly encircle the thumb in a fist.
FBI is looking for missing friend
For some hobby snoopers on TikTok, one thing is clear: the police have failed. ‘Gabby gave this signal to the police. You haven’t done anything », reads a comment on the video. Further comments follow. It was terrible to see Gabby crying like that while she was making the sign of domestic violence and the officers would not react, is the tenor of the TikTok investigators.
Toni Ann Torrans, managing director of Penelope House, which is committed to victims of domestic violence, also believes this. She also believes that Gabby was trying to call for help at the moment.
At the same time, however, it also makes it clear that the situation is confusing. “It’s pretty hectic. So you can probably interpret into it what you want to interpret into it, what she might have done or not done, ”Torrans told Fox News. The police have not yet commented on the call for help theory.
The authorities have not yet named a suspect. Meanwhile, the FBI and local investigators in the southern state of Florida are working flat out to find Petito’s friend Brian Laundrie. (jmh / AFP)
