Wash hands: Corona panic – that is forgotten when disinfecting hands

Concern about the corona virus causes the demand for disinfectants to explode, and there is hardly anything left in supermarkets and drug stores. And indeed: In order to comply with the hygiene recommendations of the authorities, more and more people are currently disinfecting their hands on a regular basis.

What can you do wrong? You spray or pour the disinfectant into your palms, rub it until it is absorbed – and you're done! Or?

Many forget an important detail

Well, that's what most of us really do when we disinfect our hands. However, they forget something crucial: the fingertips!

Because we tend to disinfect the palms in particular, our fingertips mostly remain unaffected by the agent. And that can be a fatal mistake, because with our fingers we mainly touch public areas such as elevator buttons or the stop request button on the bus.

What else you should consider

For this reason, from now on, when disinfecting your hands, you should make sure that you also consider the fingertips. In general, the following also applies: Disinfectant is not a substitute for soap, but an addition – so you should always wash your hands regularly and only use disinfectants in addition.
