5 things that happen if you wash your bra too infrequently

Your bra doesn't have to go into the wash just because you wore it for a short time – but you shouldn't wait too long either

Finally clarified: You can wear your bra that often before your skin protests – in the video you can see what can happen in the worst case!

Sure, you don't have to wash your bra every time you wear it. But cleaning shouldn't be done too carelessly either: What happens after washing pauses that are too long is really not nice.

But how long is too long? The bra should be washed at least once a week – but of course that also depends a lot on how dirty it is. A sports bra should be washed immediately if it is sweaty – but at the latest after it has been worn three times.

You can of course wear a bra "one last time" until it gets into the wash. But then it gets uncomfortable at some point.

See for yourself – it all happens when you postpone changing your bra for too long!

1. Your nipples are getting a rub

If you take too long to change your bra, you will soon know why marathon runners prefer to mask their breasts: if too much moisture collects between underwear and sensitive skin, there is a friction effect. Every step, every movement feels like someone is stroking your nipples with sandpaper. It doesn't have to be, right?

2. Your skin becomes inflamed

Sore skin isn't the only problem – in a bra, as in any piece of underwear, sweat and bacteria build up over time. And bacteria are extremely happy about warm, moist, sore rubbed areas of skin and make themselves really comfortable. It can get really painful, especially under the breasts – there is even a risk of fungal infection in this area. Then the bra not only has to be washed more often at at least 60 degrees, you should also use disinfectants.

3. You get acne where you don't want it

Not convinced yet? The inflammation can be wonderfully increased. Sports underwear in particular, which rubs against your skin particularly hard when you exercise, makes the skin prone to rashes. And pimples on your shoulders and chest can permanently spoil your good mood. Cotton bras help if you tend to sweat profusely. Alternatively, compresses can also be used.

4. Spots. So many spots.

Pretty much everyone knows the problem when T-shirts get yellow stains under the sleeves from the deodorant on the body. A bra doesn't do any better – the longer it is worn without a washing break, the more prominent the stains become. Theoretically, the problem can be avoided if you do not use deodorant – but that is not advisable, especially not if your type is so comfortable that you don't wash your bra for weeks. Which brings us to the last point …

5. Your bra starts to smell and transfers the scent to your outfit

Yes, unfortunately we have to say it so directly: like every piece of underwear, a bra starts to stink at some point. You can cover it up for a while with discreet splashes of perfume, but the smell cannot really be hidden. And because the bra rubs so wonderfully on the other items of clothing on the upper body, this brand of scent spreads quickly. A charming smile doesn't help: At the point where other people look confused and keep their distance, it is definitely too late.

Therefore: Better to wear the bra three to four times Washing machine give. Ultimately, a bra is also part of underwear – and no one wears stockings and underpants for days without changing, right?
