A brand of minced steak should not be consumed. It is subject to a product recall because it may contain traces of Listeria bacteria.

Foods in supermarkets continue to suffer from product recalls. And for good reason: their consumption can be dangerous for your health. Possible traces of bacteria or foreign bodies have been found on food products. Consumers have recently had to do without Kinder chocolates due to cases of salmonellosis. Certain cheeses were also the target of a recall because they would contain traces of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, responsible for listeriosis. A new product recall for the same issue today concerns a food sold in an E.Leclerc store in St Sever in Rouen: minced steak. A contaminated food that should not be especially not to consume.

The website Rappel.conso alerted consumers in Rouen and its metropolis on the presence of Listeria bacteria in ground beef. This meat would have been sold in the Leclerc store in St Sever, in the butcher’s department on demand, between January 24, 2022 and April 24, 2022. Consumers should not ingest this minced steak at the risk of contracting the bacteria. They are invited to return the product to the store in order to proceed with a refund. Check your freezer bins carefully: it could be that a batch of this steak from Leclerc de St Sever is there.

Symptoms of listeriosis

The bacterium Listeria monocytogenes is responsible for listeriosis, a dangerous infectious disease. She could cause serious infections if not promptly taken care of.
If you have inadvertently consumed a product likely to contain the bacteria: consult a doctor as soon as possible. The symptoms resemble those of the flu or the gastro, so you must remain vigilant. She cause, for example, fever, headache and vomiting.

The bacterium is especially dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised. Rappel.conso specifies that “severe forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur”.
