The Cybertruck may look like a tank on wheels, but safety is clearly not its strong point. It is better not to let your fingers drag near the doors or the trunk when closing them, the result is not a pretty sight.
Even if the enthusiasm for the Cybertruck, Tesla’s 100% electric pickup truck, has died down a little since its official release, there are still things to discover and test on the vehicle. When it was launched, questions quickly emerged regarding the safety of the machine. Certainly, it vaguely resembles a tank and its massive appearance suggests that you are well protected once inside. However, we remember the fiasco of the demonstration of unbreakable windows which were not that much.
During the inevitable series of tests which followed the entry into circulation of the Cybertruck, testimonies reported more or less serious problems. For example, a waterproofing concern left pass the water into the trunk in the event of even light rain. The fault of one poor alignment of steel panels which constitutes the body of the pickup. The latter also have particularly sharp edges. An observation resulting from a design choice: they are made of 1.8 cm thick stainless steel and are not folded on themselves to soften the edges.
Your fingers and Cybertruck doors don’t mix, the proof
The teams of the YouTube channel Out of Spec Reviews wanted to know if the very angular side of the Cybertruck made it more dangerous than other pickups when you let your fingers trail too close to the doors or trunk when they closed. To be clear about it, carrotsof the bananas and sausages were placed in different locations of the vehicle. Concerning the doors, no surprise: they do not have sensor to stop in case of obstacle And clearly cut the 3 substitutes used. This is the case for the other two comparison pickups, but their rounded edges give a less radical result. You will be sore, but you will still have your fingers.

Ditto at the level of the trunk, whether on its corners or at the level of the closure. On this test, it is the Rivian R1T which impresses. Its sensor stops the trunk in its tracks and no fruit or vegetables have been damaged. You can see all of this starting at the 2:50 mark in the video below. This is obviously not scientific, but it remains a relevant point of alert.
