MOSCOW (Reuters) – The level of the Ural River in the Russian city of Orenburg continued to rise on Saturday, local authorities said, as flooding threatens several regions of Russia.

On Friday, city authorities asked thousands of residents to leave immediately due to rapidly rising waters.

“The situation remains difficult. In some regions, the peak of flooding is yet to come,” Orenburg Governor Denis Pasler said on the Telegram network.

Waters were also rising in the Kurgan region where the level of the Tobol River could reach nine to eleven meters, Governor Vadim Shumkov said on Telegram.
