The history of water in cosmetics

Although the use of water in formulation has always existed, it is only when the industry chose to replace the “ointments” of the time (mainly composed of fatty substances), by the emulsions that l 'we know today (divine mixture between fat and water) that it has become more democratic. More fresh, fluids, less oily and shiny, these solutions knew how to conquer as many people as possible and we can hardly imagine going backwards. Now absolutely essential on the physiological plane therefore, water comes in all forms to give life to all kinds of products. Zoom on all of its variations.

Did you know ?

To say that a cream is organic, it must contain at least 20% ingredients from organic farming (threshold set by Ecocert). This percentage may seem derisory but is explained by the fact that it is calculated on the total of the finished product. It therefore takes into consideration in particular water (which you know mainly makes up cosmetic products whatever they are), however, the latter is a natural element – not derived from plants – and therefore cannot be classified as organic. And if we recalculate this rate of ingredients from organic farming without water, we get 95% organic!
