WAU Cyber for 2,700 euros: The e-bike highlight of the year

E BIKE

Depending on the choice of motor, the futuristic WAU Cyber is either an e-bike or an electric motorbike. The maximum speed is up to 90 km/h. The low price surprises.

Looks futuristic and, depending on the expansion stage, is damn fast – WAU Cyber. (Source: Screenshot YouTube)

  • The WAU Cyber is available with a 250, 750 or 5,000 watt Bafang motor.
  • Accordingly, the maximum speed is different. Only the basic model can be approved for German roads.
  • The lighting is a particular eye-catcher, as is the “burnout” mode.
  • At market launch, the price for all variants is 2,716 euros.

The sight and specifications of the WAU Cyber remind us a little of the Gulas Pi1S, which can reach speeds of up to 115 km/h, or the Neematic FR/1. It doesn’t look like a typical e-bike but more like an e-motorcycle. In the lowest configuration level, however, it is actually a pedelec. Here the maximum supported speed is 25 km/h and neither a driver’s license nor an insurance license plate is required.

The Cyber 5000 alone has no pedals, only footrests. This is only logical, because here the drive delivers a strong 5,000 watts, the top speed is 89 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the range of this top model is around 100 kilometers.

But even in the “smallest” model with a 250-watt motor and a 25 km/h upper support limit, there is a thick 48-volt battery with a capacity of 1 kWh. This should enable you to travel up to 322 kilometers with support. This is an enormous range for an e-bike. You can also use the battery as a power bank on the go. When camping, this bike should save you having to carry a power station with you. The matching power cable is integrated.

Whether the variants available for Europe come with the RGB lighting system shown in the pictures is open. Because this has large-format turn signals, for which there should probably be no approval. You can still look forward to bright front and rear lights.

The other equipment is also technically remarkable and can only be found in the Urtopia Bike (test report). For example, the WAU Cyber offers NFC unlocking with the help of a ring, as well as a radar system that keeps an eye on traffic behind you. There are also cameras on the front and rear. GPS tracking? Check.

Buy WAU Cyber: Price and Availability

The manufacturer is currently recruiting supporters of the project on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. For the market launch you pay 2,716 euros – no matter which variant you choose. The price increases to 4,527 euros for the market launch.
