Bombing wave in the east
Kharkiv under massive fire – residential building hit

At least three people died when Russian rockets hit a residential building in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv overnight. Kyiv speaks of terror against civilians. Meanwhile, the search for missing people in the rubble of a residential building in Chasiv Yar continues.

According to Ukrainian sources, Russian artillery has launched a massive attack on the city of Kharkiv and is preparing a major offensive in the east of the country. The Ukrainian General Staff announced in the morning that rocket launchers and tanks were in use. A veritable wave of bombing has begun, which has already hit several cities in the east. This is in preparation for a major Russian offensive.

Kharkiv region is west of Luhansk and Donetsk. In the city of Kharkiv, the second largest in Ukraine after the capital Kyiv, a residential building was hit during the night. According to the governor, three people were killed and 22 others injured. Residential areas have been hit by multiple rocket attacks, said an employee of the Ukrainian Presidential Office.

At the same time, rescue workers in Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine are still looking for survivors who are still suspected to be under the rubble of a residential building that was shelled on Saturday evening. Two dozen people are missing – including a child. At least 18 people were killed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, spoke of “another terrorist attack” and demanded that Russia be labeled as a state sponsor of terrorism.

The Russian leadership has repeatedly said that civilians would not be targeted in what it has dubbed the special military operation. The mission serves to demilitarize the neighboring country and free it from nationalists. The West and Ukraine, on the other hand, speak of an unprovoked war of aggression and accuse the Russian armed forces of war crimes.

Russia began invading its neighboring country on February 24th. Fighting has been concentrated in eastern Ukraine for some time. After Russia’s declared capture of the Luhansk region, Donetsk is now the focus. The two regions together form the Donbass, an industrial area in the east, in which separatists supported by Russia have controlled large parts since 2014.
