Released in theaters in 1992, the comedy Wayne’s World tells the story of two grown-up children, played by Myers and Dana Carvey, who turn a basement into a television studio. Every night, they host a music show broadcast on a local cable network. An ambitious television producer, seduced by their unbridled style, decides to give them their first big chance.
Wayne’s World, completely delirious and at times quite irresistible, is adapted from a series of Saturday Night Live sketches, which aired on the show as early as 1988. With a budget of 20 million dollars, the film grossed more than 180 worldwide, and more than 120 in North America alone. A sequel, Wayne’s World 2, was released in 1994.
For the anecdote, the French version of the dialogues of Wayne’s World is the work of Dominique Farrugia and Alain Chabat. No wonder when you know that Saturday Night Live was a great source of inspiration for the two members of Dummies.
