In a tweet, Jean Lassalle indicated that his Résistons! will make an “equivalent” donation to the Socialist Party, the Republicans and Europe Écologie-Les Verts to help the three parties, in financial difficulty, to reimburse their campaign expenses. “We always need someone smaller than ourselves,” he concluded.
Socialists, Republicans and ecologists can count on Jean Lassalle. Faced with the financial setbacks of the PS, LR and EELV, eliminated in the first round of the presidential election on Sunday, the candidate of Résistons! reached for his checkbook. “In the face of their financial difficulties, Résistons! has decided to make an equivalent donation to each of them in order to respect the principle of equality which is so dear to me and which has prevailed throughout this campaign…”, said ironically tweeted the deputy of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

A symbolic check for 10 euros
The candidate who obtained just over 3% of the vote (nearly double his socialist competitor, Anne Hidalgo) concluded his tweet with a touch of humor, referring to the fable of Jean de la Fontaine The lion and the rat, with a wink: “We always need someone smaller than ourselves.” When posting his publication, Jean Lassalle hid his checkbook with his left hand so as not to reveal the amount. In a press release on Thursday, he revealed that he had sent “a check for 10 euros” to the three disappointed candidates.
No campaign reimbursement
Wednesday evening, it was Philippe Poutou who announced, ironically, to make a gesture for Valérie Pécresse by offering to lend her his car “for a few days”.
To help my ex-colleague Pécresse who is facing major financial difficulties, linked to an overestimation of his abilities, if it can help him, I am willing to lend him my 308 for a few days.

The Socialist Party, the Republicans and Europe Écologie-Les Verts are indeed in financial instability. The three parties did not exceed the 5% mark in the first round, which does not allow them to claim full reimbursement for their campaign.
