At the microphone of Europe 1, Frédéric Dabi, Director General Opinion of the IFOP, spoke of the highly inflammable social context of the start of the 2023 school year marked by pension reform and high inflation which can lead to social anger.

Pension reform, inflation, crisis… the return to school in January promises to be explosive on the social level. Guest of Sonia Mabrouk, Frédéric Dabi, Director General Opinion of the IFOP, believes that the context is conducive to a “yellow vest”, in reference to the social movement of the Yellow Vests.

According to the specialist, the question of purchasing power “is powerfully worrying and refers to the lack of results on the part of the government”. For the pension reform, the specialist believes that it is perceived under “the seal of injustice and authoritarianism”.

“All that’s missing is a spark”

He believes that the current context is similar to that of 2018 which triggered the Yellow Vests movement. “In 2018, what ignited the powder was the observation that work pays badly. We see it even more now. There was also a context of the carbon tax. This double context is there now too”, explains Frédéric Dabi at the microphone of Europe 1.

According to the Director General Opinion of the IFOP, the ferments of social discontent are present: “feeling of decline of the country, obsession with purchasing power, inflation which worries the French. We have lost all our landmarks. Only a spark is missing”, lists the specialist.
