Presidential 2022. Yannick Jadot answered questions from Aufeminin on women’s rights. It intends to carry out several measures to promote gender equality.

Interviewed by Aufeminin, Yannick Jadot answered our questions on various campaign themes. The Europe Ecologie Les Verts candidate for the 2022 presidential election discussed and detailed his positions on violence against women, education and women’s health. He recalled the importance of educating children, from primary school, on the notion of consent and respect. He also took a stand in favor of a 12-day menstrual leave, a reform of paternity leave or even detailed his arsenal of measures to fight against wage inequalities.

Yannick Jadot also spoke with Aufeminin about women’s rights. It intends, for example, to detax alimony because “it is not normal that only the mother is taxable on the pension received.” He also advocates the de-maritalization of the disabled adult allowance so that the person with a disability can “to be granted the right to exist and to have its own resources for its independence.

Yannick Jadot: his positions in favor of transgender people

Should the disabled adult allowance be de-conjugated to offer real financial autonomy to millions of French people?

Deconjugalizing the allowance for disabled adults seems essential to us because we are convinced that when unable to work, the person with a disability must be granted the right to exist and to have their own resources for their independence. This is why we are committed to establishing the individualisation of the allowance for disabled adults and to upgrading it.

Should alimony payments which mainly affect women be tax-exempt?

We are in favor of the tax exemption of alimony. It is not normal for only the mother to be taxable on the pension received. The feeling of belonging to a gender can change over the course of a lifetime.

How do you plan to simplify gender change administratively and medically for transgender people?

We will guarantee the possibility for intersex and transgender people to change the mention of sex in the civil status on simple request, free of charge and without legal action, with the possibility in the meantime of removing this mention if they wish. We will guarantee the possibility of benefiting from the care and free treatment necessary for the transition process. We will conduct a training policy for public officials, particularly in national education, the police and justice, in order to raise their awareness of the realities of transgender or intersex people and guarantee equality in public services. We will ensure the dignity of transgender, intersex and non-binary people in detention and respect for their fundamental rights in prison.
