The coronation of King Charles III will take place in a few days. A highly symbolic moment for this new sovereign, at the head of the British monarchy for only eight months. But on the streets of London, the British are divided about him.

The countdown begins in the UK. In four days the coronation of Charles III will take place. For the occasion, a large part of the nation will mobilize to attend the event. But a few days before D-Day, in this popular district of north London, opinions on the first months of King Charles III diverge, even if they remain rather positive.

“In a way, I think the biggest compliment you can give him is that we didn’t notice any big differences. And I don’t think he made any missteps,” notes at the microphone of Europe 1, this Londoner. “To be honest, in my opinion, he is doing very well, because he supports Ukraine. It is important for me, I am Ukrainian. I am proud of him”, adds another passerby.

Radical change

Ukraine is one of the subjects on which the king did not hesitate to comment, especially during his first state visit to Germany, during a speech in the Bundestag. “We can rejoice in our unity in the defense of Ukraine, for freedom and peace,” he declared before the German elected officials.

From diplomacy to climate change, Charles III does not hesitate to give his opinion on current issues. A rather drastic change from Queen Elizabeth II.
